We ask you to take the time to read and understand the conditions of booking set out below prior to booking a tour with us. We strongly recommend that you read all the information and guidelines relating to your tour prior to booking. This will assist you to understand the itinerary, inclusions and what to expect on your holiday with Skillstourism Pty Ltd.  Remember we are here to help ensure it is the best possible experience for you, so please contact us if you have any specific concerns or questions.

The booking agreement is made with Skillstourism Pty Ltd ABN 39 604 600 508. By booking a tour you agree to the following booking terms and your booking will be accepted by us on these terms. Your booking confirmation invoice will outline the services included in your booking. These details will establish the entire agreement between you and Skillstourism Pty Ltd.


For your booking to be confirmed you are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of AUD500 per person within seven days of confirmation from us.  The full amount is payable at the time of your booking if it is made within 90 days of the departure date.

Booking and final payments   

You will receive a confirmation invoice once your booking is confirmed.  This will establish an agreement between you and Skillstourism Pty Ltd, which will be valid from the invoice date. Your booking confirmation will include etails for final payment. Payment of the balance of the tour price is due 90 days before the departure date. We reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled if this balance is not paid on or before the due date.  

Your personal information  

All necessary details including: full name as per passport; date of birth; nationality; passport number; passport issue and expiry date and any pre-existing medical conditions you have which may affect your ability to complete your travel arrangements are required for us to confirm your travel arrangements.

A Self-Assessment Form and/or Further Information Form may be necessary to submit with your booking request in relation to your chosen craft to determine your level of experience if any.  This will assist us and our Artisans in providing the best experience for you and in some cases pre planning for more complex projects can then take place.

If you have to cancel

A cancellation will only be effective from when we receive a written request for a cancellation.  If you cancel a tour:

  • 91 days or more prior to departure, we will retain the deposit;
  • between 90 and 31 days prior to departure, we will retain 50% of the total booking cost
  • 30 days or less prior to departure, we will retain 100% paid by you in connection with the booking.

If you cancel some or all portions of your booking, cancellation fees will apply.  

You are strongly advised to take out insurance that includes cancellation clauses at the time of booking which will cover cancellation fees.   If you leave your tour for any reason after commencement we are not obliged to make any refunds for unused services.

If you fail undertake the journey, join after departure, or leave it prior to its completion, no refund will be made. The above cancellation fees are in addition to fees which may be levied by accommodation providers, travel agents or third party tour and transport operator fees.

If we have to cancel

We may cancel a tour at any time up to 60 days before departure.   We may cancel a tour at any time prior to departure if, due to terrorism, natural disasters, political instability or other external events it is not possible for us to operate as planned.  Your safety is our utmost concern.

If we cancel your product, you can transfer amounts paid to an alternate departure date or alternatively receive a full refund.  

We are not responsible for any incidental expenses that you may incur as a result of your booking being cancelled.

If you need to change your booking

If you wish to transfer from one Skillstourism Pty Ltd to another or transfer your booking to a third party you must notify us at least 30 days prior to the proposed departure date.  A fee of $150USD per person per change will apply (in addition to any charges levied by hotels, ground operators or airlines).  

If you notify us less than 29 days prior to the proposed departure date the refund policy applicable to cancellations will apply.  

Transfers to a third party are only permitted where the transferee meets all the requirements in relation to the Skillstourism Pty Ltd, and transfers to another departure can only be made to a departure within the current validity period.  

Amendments to any other arrangements made in conjunction with your product will incur a $100  USD administration fee per booking per change. This fee is in addition to any charges levied by hotels, ground operators or airlines. No amendments are permitted to your booking within 14 days of departure.

What’s not included:   

The cost of your tour does not include:

  • International or internal flights
  • Airport taxes and excess baggage charges
  • Meals other than those specified
  • Visa and passport fees
  • Travel insurance
  • Optional activities and all personal expenses

Prices & price fluctuations

Our tour prices are subject to variable costs and seasonal pricing.   These are standard practice within the travel industry due to the many variable costs and currency fluctuations that affect our ability to provide our services at a fixed cost. Therefore our tour prices may vary at any time in accordance with demand, market conditions and availability.  The most up to date pricing is available on our website. Prices are based on currency exchange rates as of January 2017.  We reserve the right to impose surcharges up to 60 days before departure due to unfavourable changes in exchange rates, transportation costs, increases in local operator costs, taxes. or if government action should require us to do so.  If any surcharge results in an increase of more than 15% of the tour price you may cancel the booking within 14 days of notification of the surcharge and obtain a full refund. We will not surcharge any booking for travel within the validity period if the booking has been paid in full.

Age restrictions and ability to participate in our tours

Minimum General Policy:  The minimum age is 12 at the time of travel.  All persons under the age of 18 must travel with an adult of 18 plus years.  For family travel, we are open to discussing your holiday on a case by case basis in the event you have children under the age of 12 years.

Maximum General Policy: We have no upper age limit though we ask you to consider your personal health and fitness to undertake one of our holidays.  Dependent on which tour you are undertaking, most of your time will be spent in Mysore, so the demands of being on the road every day are not there as they are on many multi stop tours.  We remind you that India can be physically demanding (e.g. uneven footpaths and at certain times extreme heat) and passengers must ensure that they are suitably fit to allow full participation.   Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss any particular concerns you may have.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you obtain proper and detailed medical advice at least two months prior to travel for the latest health requirements and recommendations for your destination.

How many travellers we can accommodate

Our tours can be run for one person or a group of up to 12 people. This ensures that all our departures are guaranteed departures.  As we are a start up and just setting out, we ask any solo travellers to consider whether they would be happy travelling alone should we not receive any more confirmed passengers for their particular departure.   If this is of a concern to you, please contact Catherine or Varis to discuss – you’ll have our company and that of our Artisans and our local network so we can assure you, you won’t be alone unless you choose to be!

If you would like to know how many people are booked on your tour please ask prior to making your booking.  

Passport and visas  

It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in possession of the correct visas, permits and certificates for travel to India. We are not responsible if you are refused entry because you lack the correct passport, visa or other travel documentation. You must carry a valid passport and have obtained all of the appropriate visas, permits and certificates. Your passport must be valid for six months beyond the duration of the tour.

Please bring three copies of your passport and visa, along with three passport sized photographs.  These are required for checking into hotels and obtaining a SIM card.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory for all our travellers and we recommend taking it at the time of booking.  Your travel insurance must provide cover against personal accident, death, medical expenses and emergency repatriation with a recommended minimum coverage of $200,000 USD for each category. We also strongly recommend it covers cancellation, personal liability and loss of luggage and personal effects.

You must provide proof of your travel insurance no less than 30 days prior to travel and we will request to view your policy and collect the emergency contact information at our meeting on day one of your tour.

Itinerary changes

The itinerary provided for each tour is an indication of the types of activities we aim to provide, but it is understood that the route, schedules, itineraries, amenities and mode of transport may be subject to alteration without prior notice due to local circumstances or events.

While on tour

We personally run our tours and act as your host in India.  In our absence our our tours are run by a group leader.  The decision of the group leader is final on all matters likely to affect the safety or well-being of any person participating in the tour.  If you fail to comply with a decision made by a group leader, or interfere with the well-being or safety of the group, the group leader may direct you to leave the tour immediately, with no right to a refund.  You must at all times comply with the laws, customs, foreign exchange and drug regulations of India.   You also agree to travel in accordance with our responsible travel guidelines.  

Acceptance of risk and safety

It is your responsibility to acquaint yourself with all possible relevant travel information regarding your itinerary and the craft/s you have chosen to learn or extra activities you have chosen to undertake.  You acknowledge that your decision to travel is made in light of consideration of this information and you accept that you are aware of any personal risk.  You agree to comply with our safety standards within the workshops including wearing closed in shoes, safety glasses where needed and other safety requirements as outlined in your travel documents.

  1. Limitation of liability

We have an agreement with a network of companies, government agencies and individuals to assist in the running of our tours as agent for these third parties.  We are not responsible for the acts and omissions of these third parties.

Use of photos, videos and testimonials  

You consent to and permit Skillstourism Pty Ltd to use any images or footage taken during the tour for advertising and promotional purposes. You permit Skillstourism Pty Ltd an unlimited, royalty-free, worldwide, binding authority to use such images for publicity and promotional purposes.

  1. Privacy Policy

Any personal information that we collect about you may be used for any purpose associated with the operation of a tour or to send you marketing material in relation to our events and special offers. The information may be disclosed to our agents, service providers or other suppliers to enable us to operate the tour..  We will otherwise treat your details in accordance with our privacy policy available our website www.skillstourism.com.au.  

  1. Applicable Law

The laws of NSW, Australia govern these Booking Conditions to the fullest extent allowable.  Any disputes in connection with a product or these Booking Conditions must be initiated in the courts of NSW, Australia.
