The magnificent ruins of Hampi attract thousands of visitors every year. Vast stretches of boulder-strewn hills make for a unique backdrop. Dotted around the hills and valleys are 500 plus monuments.  Among them are beautiful temples, ruins of palaces, remains of aquatic structures, ancient market streets, royal pavilions, bastions and more. At every turn there is a surprise. Every monument hides more than what it reveals.  Imagine yourself exploring this outdoor museum where the first settlements date from 1 CE.

While it is possible to visit Hampi year round, we recommend September to January as it is the most pleasant time to explore this awe-inspiring ancient village.  Please ask if you would like to visit outside this time and we will happily arrange it for you.  Please be prepared for temperatures between 35c – 40c (95f-105f) which can make for a tiring day exploring the ruins, but if it’s your only opportunity and you can take the heat, Hampi is not to be missed!

Day One

Today we board the overnight sleeper train to Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage site.  It was one of the richest and largest cities in the world during its prime.  It is located within the ruins of the city of Vijayanagara, the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire.

Day Two  – Explore Hampi
Your guide will be with you today and tomorrow to help you see as much as you can of this magnificent UNESCO site.  It is very large, and impossible to see it all in two days but we’ll cover as much as we can and try and cater for all of your specific interests.

Overnight stay in Hampi at the Royal Orchid Central Kireeti

Day Three – Explore Hampi
Another day to immerse yourself in the history and wonder of Hampi before boarding the overnight sleeper train back to Bangalore.

Depending if you are returning to Mysore, or leaving us at Bangalore, your transfer to the airport or back to Mysore will be included.
