Mysore is known as the City of Palaces.  It was ruled by the Wodeyar Dynasty who were patrons of the arts for nearly six centuries until 1947.  The family still occupies Mysore Palace today and the many palaces and monuments built during their reign contribute greatly to the beauty of Mysore as we know it today.Home to nearly one million people, Mysore attracts visitors from all over India and the world. Getting around is much easier than many of India’s larger cities. You can get from one side of the city to the other by auto-rickshaw in only 20 minutes!
